This mid-wheel powered power chair has the ability to turn on its own axis, which enables it to manoeuvre in small spaces even though it's a large power chair. The Shoprider Lugano power chair has 6 wheels, making it very comfortable, the front and rear 2 wheels are on articulating axles, which help to achieve this. The mid-wheel power unit is powered by two motors that drive large 14" pneumatic tyres which also enable ground clearance of nearly 3". It has very powerful motors that enable speeds up to 4mph and can achieve distances of up to 25 miles with a user weight of a maximum of 136kg or 21 stone. This power chair has 2 large 75-ah batteries that enable this type of performance. The user has control of the Shoprider Lugano power chair via an extendable joystick that can be mounted either on the right or left-hand side of the full-size well-padded captain's seat. A comfortable captain's seat for those long journeys which can swivel 360 degrees, has backrest angle adjustment and has a lap belt for extra safety plus the ability to adjust seat height. The armrests are also padded, height and width adjustable and also flip up to make transfers easier. Whilst the Shoprider Lugano is a larger power chair it does have the ability to be dismantled and transported in more manageable sections. It can be split into 3 components, the seat section, the motors and housing section and the two batteries. The total weight of the 3 components is 126kg, the seat section weighs approximately 36kg, the motors and housing unit approximately 38kg whilst the batteries weigh 26kg each. Although each individual component is still heavy it does give the user the ability to transport this power chair. Overall a larger power chair that offers an extremely comfortable ride.
